Shipping Better UX with Fewer Revisions

Unnecessary redesign work can consume time that would be better spent improving the product.

The goal is not to eliminate useful revisions. It is to discover usability problems early, when they are easier to address, and reduce avoidable rework later.

A practical review loop:

1. **Discovery interviews before design** Talk with representative users and observe them using the current flow. Ask "what's confusing?" and "where do you get stuck?" This helps identify problems to solve rather than relying only on aesthetic opinions.

2. **Design in the browser, not in Figma** High-fidelity mockups can look convincing without behaving like the real interface. Prototype key interactions early so usability issues can surface before full implementation.

3. **Review with actual users before dev started** Not stakeholder reviews. Not design team reviews. Real users. "Here's your flow—try it and tell me what's confusing."

**Why this can help:** User feedback complements expert judgement; each helps reveal different issues. Addressing a problem earlier can avoid rework, though the effort saved depends on the project and the problem.

Treat your assumptions as hypotheses. Do discovery, prototype important interactions, and test with people who represent your users.

Then ship with confidence.
